Keeping your goals in mind during Thanksgiving doesn’t mean giving up the pie…
I remember when this holiday used to give me some realllllll anxiety when I was so obsessed with food and counting calories.
I was terrified of all the amazing homemade foods my family would provide because I tried to eat supperrrr “clean” during the week and theres this had to be an all or nothing type situation. Had to be.
I would skip breakfast and run 12 miles that morning, fasted, just to make up for all the extra "bad" calories.
Come lunch time, I was so hungry I would binge out on the crackers and dip, eat 2 FULL plates of food because I would never allow myself these things on a weekly basis, and still tried to have a gluttonous amount of dessert because sweets "werent allowed."
CRINGGEEEEE.
When we hyper focus on these holidays and the foods, we are creating an unhealthy relationship with not only this meal, but between the balance of enjoying our family, foods, and still maintaining our healthy lifestyle.
*Side thought: your kids are hearing your express this kind of relationship with food and holidays as well…
What would it look like if you started to bring a healthier side (not saying a salad mkkayyy but healthIER) to your family's events? Maybe instead of sweet potato casserole with the marshmallows and brown sugar you make a savory sweet potato dish or a lower sugar casserole by skipping out on those mellows??
What would it feel like to not overindulge and actually get hungry for dinner later?
What would it feel like to see the scale not budge after an afternoon of eating with the family and having a piece of dessert?
Holidays are part of the lifestyle and so we need to build that mentality to be the same!
Dont forget to prioritize those veggies (yes, everyday!) to start out with!
Eat the delicious source of protein (Turkey, ham, ribeye, whatever!)
THEN taste the casseroles you wanted to try on your plate LAST. You'll probably notice youre kinda full by then and can save this for a snack or meal later and still have room for dessert!
Portion your desserts. You dont have to avoid them altogether.
ENJOY your family time and focus on your goals!
Thanksgiving is so beautiful and I am truly thankful for each of you and the impact youve had on myself, this company, and this program.
2023 is just around the corner! Are yall ready to make it the best year yet?!
LETS GO!
